Awards

The Tulsa Partners family of programs and partners has received the following awards and commendations:

2005

* 2005 Oklahoma State Department of Health acknowledged the Medical Reserve Corps - Tulsa for outstanding contributions, dedication, devotion and efforts to Operation Firework Fanfare - Oklahoma's Strategic National Stockpile Exercise  conducted July 12-14, 2005.

* 2005 Representative of Tulsa Partners/Mayor's Citizen Corps asked to share best practices at International Emergency Management Conference in Toronto, Canada, July 10-12.

* 2005 Program coordinators presented "Oklahoma - A Collaboration of Corps" at the Medical Reserve Corps national leadership conference in San Francisco, CA, April 20-22. 

 * 2005 Safe and Secure program offered to deaf community through TSHA (Tulsa Speech and Hearing Association) highlighted in Public Preparedness-A National Imperative symposium report published by the Council for Excellence In Government January 2005.

2004

* 2004 National Home Builders Association honors Neighbor for Neighbor Millennium House for its disaster resistant and ecologically friendly features designed for moderate income families. Developed with support of Tulsa Project Impact/Mayor's Citizen Corps.

* 2004 Project TAHS with the Corporation for National and Community Service lists Language and Culture Bank and McReady as best practices

*  2004 FEMA Region VI highlights Millennium House as best practice on their website, as does the Partnerships for Advancing Technologies in Housing (PATH). 

*  2004 The Tulsa Citizen Committee for Hazard Mitigation Planning was cited by the Council for Excellence in Government.  Tulsa's work was among examples of outstanding "innovation at work in homeland security." 

*  2004 Bank of Oklahoma received from the Tulsa Crime Commission the "Outstanding Corporation in Homeland Security" award.  BOk was the first business to participate in the Mayor's Citizen Corps Safe & Secure program.

*  2004 Oklahoma McDonalds restaurants received a national Social Responsibility award  from McDonalds US Communications for the McReady Oklahoma program, citing the strength of the program's public/private partnerships and government relations efforts.

2003

*  2003 Department of Homeland Security / FEMA promotes City of Tulsa to be the nation's first Class 2 community under the Community Rating System (CRS) of the National Flood Insurance Program (See an Influence Diagram of Tulsa's Flood Mitigation Program from 1970 to the present by Elliot Mittler here.) 

  * 2003 Safe and Secure Program and McReady Tulsa Program receive best practice awards at FEMA Region VI Volunteers In Homeland Security Conference

* 2003 McDonalds receives corporate homeland security award from the Citizen Crime Commission for the McReady Tulsa program

*  2003 Department of Homeland Security / FEMA -  Model Citizen Corps Council recognition

2002

*  2002 FEMA Mentoring Community of faith and community-based organizations

2001

*  2001 Dream Catcher Award for work in the Tulsa Heat Coalition

2000

*  2000 Special Recognition Award from the Oklahoma Safety Council

*  2000 Project Impact Mentoring Community Award

*  2000 HUD "Simply the Best" Award for best practices

*  2000 National Flood Insurance Program gave the City of Tulsa a "3" on the Community Rating System, the only city to obtain that rating.

1999

*  1999 FEMA Region VI Star Community Award

* 1999 The National Trust for Histroic Preservation recognition for our Hazard Mitigation for Historic Resources Project as an Official Project of Save America's Treasures

1998

*  1998 FEMA Project Impact Model Community Award

In addition, Tulsa Project Impact partners and employees have also been cited  numerous times for their contributions to Project Impact and Tulsa Citizen Corps programs.
