WASHINGTON — Most Americans haven't taken steps to prepare for a natural disaster, terrorist attack or other emergency, according to a new study on preparedness, and only about a third have made plans with family members about how they would communicate with each other during a crisis.

Tulsa Partners, Inc. Academic Symposium Building a Disaster-Resistant Community: Bridging Research & Practice Item #2006-web-15
Tulsa Partners, Inc., Tulsa Citizen Corps and the Oklahoma State University Center for the Study of Disasters and Extreme Events will present Building a Disaster-Resistant Community: Bridging Research & Practice, a day-and-a-half interactive symposium that will bring together some of the nation’s most noted and published academicians in the country. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 24 and Thursday, May 25 at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa Campus from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the Wednesday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday. Other sponsors of the symposium are PSO and Aerial Data Services.

Citizen Corps Includes Vulnerable Populations in Emergency Planning Item #2006-web-13 Tulsa Citizen Corps will co-sponsor the 2nd National Pilot FEMA certification training on emergency preparedness for deaf and hard of hearing and first responders on Wednesday, March 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Tulsa Police Training Center at 6066 E. 66th St. North.
