Senior Volunteers

Senior citizens play an important role in volunteerism across the United States. Retired seniors may have more time available to dedicate to volunteering than their younger counterparts. Seniors also may have a wealth of experience and skills that younger volunteers can draw from and utilize.

Seniors are particularly important to the Tulsa Citizen Corps. We have a special mandate from our funding source, the Corporation for National & Community Service, to involve seniors in volunteer activities.

Seniors are encouraged to become a part of Tulsa's preparedness efforts by volunteering with the local police department, serving as instructors and program managers for neighborhoods and businesses involved in preparedness training, or lending the skills they already possess to Tulsa's human service organizations. There are many opportunities for both actively employed and retired individuals!
